Overview of Hospital: Located in the heart of the Bronx and affiliated with the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, St. Barnabas Hospital is a not-for-profit, nonsectarian, acute care community hospital and Level I Trauma Center. In addition to the 461-bed facility, St. Barnabas offers outpatient services including a large network of primary care sites and community mental health centers, located throughout the Bronx.
Bronx Park Medical Pavilion, part of the St. Barnabas network of services, houses a private practice medical office offering comprehensive medical care for patients. More than 75 physicians and health care practitioners who specialize in over 20 medical specialties use state-of-the-art equipment and advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities to diagnose and treat patients.
St. Barnabas Hospital also offers the Teen Pregnancy Clinic providing gynecologic and obstetric support for pregnant adolescents. Through personalized, confidential prenatal care as well as a forum in which to discuss issues specific to their situation, teens receive specialized care and education throughout their pregnancy.
The St. Barnabas Nursing Home, established in 1994, is located in the Belmont section of the Bronx. In addition to long-term geriatric care, the nursing home offers the Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) program seven days a week. ADHC provides services that include door-to-door transportation, breakfast, lunch, recreational activities, wellness programs and community outings.
