Overview of Hospital: Located in the Bronx, Jacobi Medical Center was founded in 1955 in honor of Dr. Abraham Jacobi, "the father of American pediatrics." Jacobi Medical Center is a member of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, and is a partner in the North Bronx Healthcare Network.
Jacobi provides 500 beds to support patients with a complete range of acute, specialty, general and psychiatric services. In addition, Jacobi operates various community-based health care centers providing examinations and health screenings for hypertension, diabetes, breast cancer and prostate cancer.
Most recently, Jacobi Medical Center opened a new multi-million dollar 344 inpatient facility touting the latest technology. The facility is equipped to handle both adult and pediatric emergencies including trauma, critical illness and mass casualty incidents. It also has a state-of-the art radiology center and an operating suite with the latest innovations in surgical and laparoscopic equipment. Jacobi offers cutting edge critical care in their medical, surgical, cardiac, pediatric and burn intensive care units.
