At Schwartzapfel Partners P.C. we support organizations like the following that offer assistance to families and individuals who are new to our city and trying to acclimate to the urban community.
Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition is an alliance of over 60 agencies in the U.S. and Latin America that is committed to eliminating slavery and human trafficking. They operate a 24-hour Trafficking Emergency Hotline: (619) 666-2757.
U.S. Immigration Center (USCIS) is the official government entity responsible for overseeing all aspects of the immigration of new citizens to the US. Warning! Many non-USCIS Web sites offer immigration forms. Some will sell you a downloadable form for a fee. These sites are not affiliated with USCIS, and these sites may not have the latest versions of forms. In some circumstances, use of older forms may result in your application or petition being denied or delayed. The latest versions of these forms are always available by calling the U.S. Immigration Center at 1-800-375-5283.
The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is an umbrella policy and advocacy organization for more than 200 groups in New York State that work with immigrants and refugees. They offer the New York Immigration Hotline available Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The hotline provides free and confidential information in 15 languages (Arabic, Bengali, French, Haitian-Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Polish, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu) about everything from immigration law to employment discrimination to health referrals to a list of nonprofit agencies that assist immigrants. The hotline number is (800) 566-7636.
